As the microbrew craze grows, we've seen more couples include a favorite beer in their wedding celebration (like one Camp Lucy groom from Wisconsin and his beloved local brew, New Glarus). In fact, beer has long played a role in weddings. Historians trace the origins of the bridal shower to the medieval tradition of a bride brewing beer - bridal comes from the old English word bruydale or bride ale - to sell to guests before the wedding.
In the past few years, the Texas Hill Country has exploded with craft breweries. Just a stone's throw from Camp Lucy are Thirsty Planet Brewing, Jester King Craft Brewery, and Real Ale Brewing Company. Opening later this year, right here in Dripping Springs, is Twisted X Brewing Company. If your guests are looking for a taste of local culture, some of the breweries are open for tours and tastings.
